Download Helium Hotspot Utility App
In order to update the WiFi network settings for your Hotspot, you will need the Helium Hotspot Utility App. Download the app for iOS or Android.
Bluetooth Pair with Your Hotspot
In the Helium Hotspot Utility App, grant permissions for Bluetooth when requested. This is necessary to pair with your Hotspot.
Contrary to the instructions in the app, you simply need to press the Bluetooth pairing button on your Hotspot once to start Bluetooth pairing mode. The button can be found on the side of the Hotspot next to the USB-C power port. After pressing the button, tap the magnifying glass icon in the Helium Hotspot Utility App to search for the Hotspot and tap Connect to select it from the list and pair.
If the Hotspot does not appear in the Find Hotspots list, repeat the process and ensure you search for the Hotspot quickly as Bluetooth pairing mode is only active temporarily after the button press.
Should the Hotspot still not appear in the Find Hotspots list, unplug power from the Hotspot for 30 seconds and then plug power back in. Give the Hotspot at least 30 seconds to boot, and then try searching again in the Helium Hotspot Utility App. Upon power up, the Hotspot will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode for a short duration.
If you're still unable to detect the Hotspot, there may be a firmware or SD card issue. In this case, refer to our article on SD Card Issues.
Update WiFi Network Settings
Once you have successfully connected to your Hotspot via Bluetooth, tap the Configure button next to Wi-Fi Network.
Available WiFi networks will be displayed. Tap on the network you wish to connect your Hotspot to.
Enter the password for the WiFi network. If necessary, tap the eye icon to reveal the password and ensure it's typed accurately. When finished, tap Connect.
The screen will briefly show "Connecting..." while negotiating the network connection and will change to "Connected" when done.
Close the Helium Hotspot Utility App, and re-open it. Re-pair with your Hotspot to confirm the new WiFi settings. If the settings are not reflected properly, power cycle your Hotspot by unplugging power from the Hotspot for 30 seconds and then plugging power back in. Give the Hotspot at least 30 seconds to boot, and then re-pair and verify the WiFi network settings have updated.
